“I just don’t understand it. I’ve been buying him nice things. But when I took him out to get some really nice underwear he just kept acting like I was mistreating him somehow.”
“Well mom, I think he looks great in the things I’ve seen on him so far, but you did let him wear whatever he wanted for so long.”
“I know, and I felt so bad for him, looking so awful. I just wanted to help him. But it seems like he doesn’t want my help.”
“I’m glad you’re helping him. He looks so much better with just what you’ve done so far. While we were at school today I heard some other girls talking about how they think he’s starting to look sexy. I think I can boost his confidence about letting you help him if I tell him that.”
“Thank you Karen. I’m only doing this for him. I want him to feel like he’s good looking instead of just a scruffy bum.”
“So, he won’t be borrowing my underwear again tomorrow?”
“No honey. We got him his own panties to wear now.”
“I’m not sure I want the pair he borrowed back. There’s definitely something strange about thinking of your brother wearing your underwear and looking better in them than you do.”
Jon, now sitting at the top of the stairs eavesdropping on the conversation, heard Karen giggle before he heard the sound of his mother walking toward the stairs. She called out to him. “Jon, do you need my help up there? I would be happy to help you get your pants back on.”
She finished her sentence as she saw Jon coming down the stairs.
“Ah. Good. Just in time for dinner. Karen, you’re welcome to stay if you like.”
“I would love to.”
