Maxie had the oddest feeling something was amiss. She stood behind the counter with her arms crossed as the young boy looked around. She wondered if Mr. Frederick would be ok with a young kid unchaperoned, but she didn't want to head to the back room to ask. Just then, another person came into the store. The person was quite strange, an older person, maybe her age. The odd part is that the person didn't quite look female or male, and the face didn't help at all. In fact it looked quite abnormal but she just couldn't put her rubber finger on it. But regardless, this was another potential customer.
"Hi! I'm Maxie the Monkey! Here to help you shop today!" Maxie said as cheerfully as she could. The person just ignored her, and began looking through the store.
"Ugh we're getting the weirdos today..." Maxie thought to herself. She noticed the boy left, and soon the other person as well.
The rest of the day was fairly quiet. Aside from a few people browsing nothing was really happening. Maxie stood at the counter, tapping her foot. It made an audible enough noise on the tile floor that caught Jasmine's attention.
"Could you please stop?" Jasmine said from across the aisle. "I can hear your rubber foot from all the way over here."
"You're one to talk! Every time you move around you sound like a gosh darn cartoon!" Maxie replied.
"Well how do you expect me to work without moving?" Jasmine retorted. "You're lucky you get to stand behind a counter all day, and would it kill you to put some clothes on?!"
"Psh, I don't even wanna argue with you." Maxie scoffed. "You're just mad he likes me better."
"Well obviously sweetheart. If you weren't young, rubber, and nude he wouldn't have even hired you!" Jasmine snapped back.
"That...that isn't true. I got hired because I'm a flexible worker." Maxie defended herself.
"That ain't the only flexibility he likes in you..." Jasmine mumbled. If they had known how they were altered, it would have been tough to take Jasmine seriously as she bounced into the back with her rubber infused legs.
While counter her register as the shop was closing, Mr Federick finally came out of the back room. He wasn't as stern as earlier, but Maxie recognized that face. She was about to be lectured.
"Maxie, let's talk a bit." That is how the old man started every lecture. "Ya know, I hired you because I thought you were finally mature...enough to run a register that is. I can't have you fighting with your co-worker every time you're together. Did you even remember to sell all your monkey toys?"
Maxie instantly looked at the counter. She had barely sold any all day. She placed a rubber palm on her forehead and tried to look away from Mr. Frederick.
"That's what I thought. Too busy picking fights to even sell. I think I'll have to let you go." Mr Frederick stated bluntly.
"B-but, I'm a toy! I can't just be kicked out!" Maxie pleaded.
"You're right, and I think it's time for you to be sold." He said as he reached out of his pocket. He slipped out his credit card. "Charge me for one Wacky Monkey Launcher."
Maxie became nervous. "W-which one sir?"
He placed his hand on hers and looked her in the eye with a devious smile. "...You."
While she wanted to fight back, her toy side overwhelmed her. She punched in the numbers and she was now his Toy...
