"Return it to scan mode and give it to me," Jon ordered Karyn.
But she didn't. Instead, she decided to press the screen over the word ERASE. Suddenly, the entire list of traits disappeared from the screen and a different-colored beam of light shot out from the device and struck Jon in the head.
Karyn immediately tossed the device onto the bed and grabbed Jon. "Are you alright?" She thought that if she hit ERASE, then it would ask which trait or traits she wanted to erase. But she had an uneasy feeling that the device erased all of his personality traits. Could a person exist without a personality?
"I'm fine," he said, with a monotone voice. There was absolutely no feeling in that voice. There were computer voices that had more life to them.
"I'm so sorry, Jon. I didn't mean to erase everything," she said, trying to apologize. But it seemed that it didn't matter.
"It's okay," he said. Still no feeling whatsoever. She knew that normally he'd be mad. Really mad at her for doing something like this to him. But it was like he didn't care. In fact, he didn't really care about anything. He just existed. He was no better than a robot made of flesh and blood. Memory, intelligence, and experience ... but no personality to make him seem alive.
