"Give me the device," Karyn ordered Jon.
But he didn't. Instead, he decided to press the screen over the word ERASE. Once he did, the three options at the bottom of the screen were replaced by a phrase: SELECT TRAITS TO BE ERASED, THEN ACTIVATE DEVICE.
So Jon did just that. He went through and selected what he wanted, then pointed the device at Karyn.
"Jon, I'm warning you," Karyn said. "If you don't give me the device ..."
It was at this moment that Jon pulled the trigger, causing a different-colored beam to shoot out from the device and hit Karyn squarely in the head. In a moment, he'd see what Karyn would be like without the personality trait(s) that he just erased from her. The trait(s) that Jon decided to erase from her turned out to be ...
