The air outside was muggy, heavy with humidity. The sun was closer to the horizon, yet it still felt like midday. There were puddles on the pavement, and drops still dripped from tree tops. Jon and Karyn came out of his house, shielding their eyes from the sun.

"Didn't notice the rain earlier... man, it is heavy," Jon said as he unzipped his hoodie. Might be too warm for it, but if it rained again. His eyes looked up at the sky; he could see some blue through some of the low, grey clouds. It might rain soon, or not.

Karyn poofed some air through her teeth. "Dangit - I hate it when it gets like this," She said as the two walked away from the shade. "We should probably wish this away." She said wistfully.

Jon chuckled. "We've put up with this for sixteen years, Karyn, we can do it for another hour," Jon said with a shrug. "Besides, I do not trust myself to wish for anything right now.

"I wasn't being serious but, yeah, makes sense," Karyn said, putting her hands in her hoodie pockets. Good thing those were big enough to fit the Fetish Gun, otherwise she would look silly walking around with a Supersoaker.

The two walked on in silence for a while, passing from the main block onto the local Highstreet. On either side there were shops, small and big. In the corner there was a butcher's. The two turned right, walking up the slight hill towards the park.

"Should we go to the pond? Throw rocks at the pigeons?" Karyn asked as she looked around to see if any cars were coming. The green man appeared on the pedestrian light and she was about to cross when she noticed Jon lagging behind. She frowned and walked back at him.

"Jon? Whatchu looking at?" She asked.

Jon stood in front of the window display of a charity shop, eyes intent on something. Karyn followed his gaze and noticed he was looking at some women's knee-high leather boots.

She chuckled and punched him in the shoulder.

"Oh, hey!" He said, eyes pulled away momentarily. He looked at her, rubbing his shoulder. "What was that for?"

Karyn shrugged, giving him a smug look. "Keep it in your fantasies, boy," She said, nodding her head at the heels. "You can look all you want, but the effects won't last the hour. And, actually..." She said, taking a peek at her phone. "We're nearly out of time."
