"Karyn, we're not dating," Jon said. "And we don't have a date this weekend."
She laughed. "Of course we're not dating. You're a really good friend, Jon, but I don't have feelings for you. I never have."
"Then why did you kiss me?" he asked, testing her.
"Because you dared me, remember? Speaking of which, it's time to pay up."
"Huh?"
"Come on, Jon. You lost the bet. Now, cough up the money." She held out her hand.
"How much ..."
"Oh, like you don't remember. You're the one that made the bet." When she saw that Jon still didn't know, she said "Ten bucks."
"Ten?" He sighed, then gave her ten dollars. But then, he wondered why he was so disgruntled about it. He could just make her give it back. "Give me the money back."
Karyn then gave him the ten dollars back. "I can't take this money, Jon. You know how I feel about making bets."
Jon grabbed the money and put it back in his pocket.
It was amazing. Every new command reworked her mind. She remembered the kiss, but thought she did it for a different reason. And now she remembered Jon supposedly making a bet with her, but decided to give the money back because of what she thought was her own reasoning.
