"I wish I had a device that allows me to hypnotize the person I target with it, leaving them completely vulnerable to suggestion. Also, I wish that the target would only be vulnerable towards the person who used the device on them."
After Jon said that, an odd-looking gun appeared on his bed. It looked like something out of an old sci-fi movie. He picked it up and looked at it.
"Jon, isn't that kind of dangerous? What if someone takes it and hypnotizes you and makes you break the law or something? Jon, they could even talk you into killing yourself!"
"Karyn, you worry too much. I'm gonna have this thing with me all the time. No one's gonna steal it from me."
"I guess you're right. But maybe you should make a wish just in case."
"In a minute. First I want to try it out." He aimed the gun at Karyn.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
He pulled the trigger and a beam of white light shot out and hit Karyn squarely in the chest.
"Do you feel any different?" Jon asked.
"No. Not really."
Hmm, Jon thought. He was expecting Karyn to fall into a trance, like a zombie. It was a hypnosis gun after all. But nothing seemed to really happen.
"Maybe it doesn't work," Karyn said.
"No, I saw a light beam hit you. It must have done something," Jon said.
Karyn shrugged her shoulders. "Well, I don't feel any different."
But Jon knew something must have happened. So, he decided to do a test. "Karyn?"
"Yeah, Jon?"
"Jump up and down on one foot."
Karyn immediately complied and began hopping up and down on one foot.
"I guess something did happen after all," Jon said.
"Huh?" Karyn said. "I told you, I don't feel any different."
"Then why are you hopping on one foot?"
"I just feel like doing it," Karyn said. "Is that a crime?"
Interesting, Jon thought. Karyn actually thinks it was her idea. She didn't even seem to remember me telling her to do it.
"Karyn, you can stop hopping now." And Karyn stopped.
Jon grinned, thinking of other things he'd like Karyn to do.
