When Karyn reached the first floor, she saw a little girl (probably no older than six) trying to reach for something on a shelf. Scattered across the floor were pieces of two broken dishes. That must have been what all the noise was about.
Karyn barked at the girl. She turned around and looked at her. "How did you get in here?" she asked. Then she fell to the floor and began to cry. Karyn walked over to her and snuggled up next to her.
"I don't get it," the little girl said. "How did this happen? One moment I was about to make breakfast and then the next I was a little girl."
From what the girl was saying, Karyn assumed that this was Jon's mother. Karyn wanted to comfort her, but all that came out was another bark.
If only they had the stone, they could get someone to wish them back to normal. But as it was, they didn't. And even if they did, it would be hard for a baby and a dog to tell someone what to wish for.
Somewhere else in the neighborhood was the new owner of Jon's body. And with his body was the wishing stone. But who had Jon's body?
