"I wish I had a device that allows me to alter the memories of the person I target with it. Also, I wish that the device has a vocal interface."
After Jon said that, an odd-looking gun appeared on his bed. It looked like something out of an old sci-fi movie. He picked it up and looked at it. On the side of it, there was a small embedded mic.
"What exactly does it do again?" Karyn asked.
"Well," Jon explained. "It allows me to alter the memories of whomever I shoot with it. I can erase parts of their memories or even create new ones."
"Isn't that kind of dangerous? What if someone takes it and erases your memories of the stone, or something?"
"Karyn, you worry too much. I'm gonna have this thing with me all the time."
"You can't be sure of that."
"Karyn, you're ruining this for me." Then Jon smiled, as an idea came to him. He spoke into the device. "You always trust me completely." And then he pulled the trigger.
Karyn looked dazed for a moment, then blinked.
"I'll have this thing with me all the time, Karyn. Don't you trust me?"
"Of course I trust you, Jon. What made you think I didn't?"
Successful test, Jon thought. But this was just small fries compared to what he had in mind.
"Come on. I want to try this thing out. And I know exactly who to try it on first."
