"Well," said Pete, "prove it."
"I told you," said Jon. "You can try some of the magic clothes when we're done. I'm not going to strip in public."
"I saw you strip in the locker room anyway. It could still be a trick."
Jon thought. Hmm, how could he prove it? Sure, it was easy. "How about this? I can't strip and I can't give you a pair of pants... but I can give you my sneakers to try on. They're a girl's sneakers and they're too small for either of us without magic. I think they should work on top of something else, but if not, you can just take off your socks first.
Jon sat down and quickly pulled off his sneakers. "Here, Pete," he said. "Try these on. But first.. what if I do prove it?"
"Come on, you won't be able to."
"What if I do? Let's make a deal. If I can prove this to you, then you have to....."
As Jon explained, Pete grimaced. He thought a while and said "Fine. It's not as if you can do it anyway."
"But you have enough doubts, said Jon, "that you'd at least try." He gave the sneakers to Pete, Pete put them on, and they worked first try. They fit despite being different sizes and Pete ended up with socks that seemed too large for his feet. "Now, about that deal...."
