...frowned at Jon, and though Jon felt slightly guilty at having asked Karyn (this beautiful girl who had become his friend while working for his family as a domestic servant) to apparently just accept being his maid, he also felt...somewhat put off...
...because he could CLEARLY remember having made friends with Karyn after she'd started working for them. Karyn was simply a domestic, but he'd treated her fairly, and eventually he and she'd become real friends. She and he'd watched movies or simply talked on her days off, and recently...he'd made advances on her...dropped hints and a friendly wink or two, and Karyn had returned them with a blush and a grin.
"It's not that I don't respect you, Karyn...but...well...I've become fond of you..."
"I'M NOT YOUR MAID, JON!" Karyn yelled, stamping her high-heeled foot in frustration as she reached for the magic pencil. Jon picked it up...but then reluctantly started to hand it to her...

Karyn glanced backward, and felt a momentary thrill of panic. Had she really just yelled at Jon? She could lose her job for something like that...
I don't work here.
Still, she turned and answered "Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am. I misspoke myself, ma'am. It wont happen again, ma'am."
"Come down here, Karyn."
Karyn almost didn't go, but the fear of being dismissed from her position...
I DON'T WORK HERE!!!
...impelled her.
"I'll be back in a moment. Don't mess with anything!"
Jon nodded...and as soon as Karyn (sweet and wonderful Karyn) was out of sight...he started writing. He had to fix this situation.
"Yes, ma'am?"
"Were you yelling at my son, Karyn?"
"I thought his name was Jon. ma'am?" she said with a cute smile, in an effort to break the tension.
Jon's mother smiled, but said "Don't be cheeky, Karyn. It ill suits you. Now, did you yell at Jon?"
Karyn bit her lip and tried to think of how to handle this.
Meanwhile...
