The signal was strong enough to even affect Sarah's and Jay's hometown.

And it was there that Jon saw one of the first people to be affected by the "Geek Signal".

Zach Jones, a boy that had just that morning called Sarah McMillan a loser, sat at the back of Jon's Literature class. He wasn't paying attention to the teacher. He never really did. Today, he had his headphones on, listening to music.

Everything was fine until Jon heard a gasp and looked back at Zach. He was dressed like a geek! Jon immediately looked around the room. Someone must have used the personality manipulator on him, but he didn't see it anywhere.

"What?" Zach whispered hoarsely to himself. "What happened to me?"

No one payed any attention to him, except for Jon. Zach looked up at him, a look of shock and disgust in his eyes. He hated geeks, so to be dressed like one was revolting. But Jon could start to see something else in his eyes. It was a look of acceptance. And it was becoming more prominant. Until after only a few minutes, Zach had completely converted, like so many others Jon had seen the previous night. The person who hated geeks was now a geek himself. And he liked it.

Zach took off his headphones. It was barely audible, but Jon heard the device's very familiar signal coming from Zach's headphones. Someone was broadcasting the signal over the radio? It was unbelievable.

Once his headphones were off, Zach placed them over the ears of the girl in front of him. In a blink of an eye, she changed from a normal girl, wearing a T-shirt and jeans, to a geeky girl, wearing a white blouse and long beige skirt. She screamed.

That got everyone's attention.
