She opened her door and saw her parents standing there.
"Sarah, honey. What's going on?" her dad asked.
"Nothing's going on, Father," Sarah answered.
Her parents looked at each other, then back at Sarah.
"Did you just call me Father?" her dad asked.
"Yes."
"Why? What's gotten into you?"
"Well, I have to show you respect. You are my parents."
"Sarah," her mom said. "Is this part of a hazing or something? Because, I don't ..." She stopped mid-sentence. Sarah's closet doors were still open and her mom saw her "new" clothes. She walked past Sarah and into her room. "Where did all of your clothes go?"
Sarah turned towards her. "Those are my clothes, Mother."
Her mom looked back at her dad, with a look of confusion. There was a bit of disappointment in that look too.
Her mom was a very beautiful woman and she had a childhood similar to Sarah's. She even was the head cheerleader at one point. So, to see her daughter act like the kind of person she despised, well, it was worse than if she got bad grades at school or was found using drugs. Her mother was disgusted by Sarah's new look and personality. She was sexy and she expected that her daughter be the same. Good looks did, of course, run through her family. And to not use them to her advantage would be such a waste.
Sarah's mom would never accept her new personality. Unless, of course, she had a different point of view.
Sarah picked up her cellphone.
"Who are you calling?" her mom asked.
"My boyfriend." She dialed the number.
"Biff? Why would you ..."
"Not Biff. I broke up with him. I'm talking about Jay."
"Who's Jay?" she asked Sarah.
"Jay Duncan."
"Jay Duncan? You mean that geeky wimp that you constantly complain about from school?"
"He's not a wimp! He's smart and sweet and ... and he's fun to be around."
Her mom was shocked at her daughter's defending of Jay Duncan. Sarah hated him, she had made that clear on more than one occasion. What happened to her daughter that changed her so drastically?
"Hello?" Jay said on the phone.
"Hi, it's me."
"Sarah? What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Nothing much, I mean. Could you come over? And bring the device too?"
"I'll be right there," he said, then hung up.
"What device?" her mom asked.
