Biff was obviously freaked out by all that had happened to him. So freaked out, that he started to hyperventilate. That was probably why he had the inhaler. He must have needed it when he got nervous. And this definitely qualified as something to be nervous about.
Something interesting that Jay had noticed about the effect of the device was that not only did people dress and act like the personality selected, but that they also had physical changes. Like Biff losing his muscle mass and having to use an inhaler or Jon needing glasses, or Karyn needing braces. Another thing was that they had changes in intelligence. Suddenly, Sarah knew about technical things that she had never learned about before.
Jay also wondered about something. How did the device choose what the "new" geeks would be interested in (like science, tech, computers, etc.)? Was it random or was there already a small interest already there?
Biff put the inhaler in his nose again and sprayed. After a few seconds, he began to breathe easier.
How am I supposed to play football like this? he thought to himself. I can't even run without using this stupid inhaler.
Meagan walked over to Biff and touched his arm. "Are you okay?" she said, concerned.
He looked at her. Meagan used to be so hot, but now she just looked geeky. It was such a turn-off. He shook her off. "Don't touch me."
What are all the guys gonna think of me? he thought, referring to his football buddies. He looked at his lack of muscles. He was just a scrawny geeky kid now. The coach would never let him play football again.
But then, he started feeling like he'd rather not play football. In fact, he had no interest in sports at all.
He looked at Meagan, who still stood by. He started to see her differently. He couldn't explain it, but he didn't mind that she looked unattractive. She was being kind to him, asking if he was okay. He started to be glad that she showed that compassion towards him.
She led him back to the table and he sat in a seat next to her's.
A few minutes later, Biff was fully content with being a geek. And he didn't want to change back.
