Melissa, Meagan, and Ashley got out of the convertible and confronted Jay, who still held the personality manipulator device in his hands. Sarah was so shaken up by what had happened that she couldn't even move, let alone get out of the car.
"It's that gun, isn't it?" Melissa asked Jay. "That's how you did it, right?" She was obviously mad. Her friend just got turned into a geek right before her very eyes. Sarah would never be popular again. This weird gun ruined her friend's life. Now she was gonna make this guy pay for what he did.
"Yeah, that's right."
"Give it to me," Melissa ordered.
"I think not."
She grabbed for it and they tugged back and forth, until Jay pulled so hard that he fell on the ground. He still had the device, but in the fall, he accidentally fired it off.
The high-pitch noise sounded and everyone stopped and looked at each other to see if anyone was different.
