The girl's mother just stood there, frozen. Not knowing what to do.
She had almost nearly converted, if that's what you want to call it. Soon, though, her gothic dress and Goth attitude would be gone and her normal self would return.
He pulled the trigger. That high-pitched noise sounded again. And in nearly an instant, the girl's mother was back to normal, wearing a light blue T-shirt and jeans.
"Mom!" the girl yelled and ran to her.
Her mother seemed bewildered. "What? What was I just doing?" She wasn't asking that because she couldn't remember. She was asking because she could remember and she wanted to know why she was acting like that.
The two of them walked away, leaving Jon to deal with Zoe and Karyn.
Karyn glared at Jon. There was hurt in her eyes. The same hurt that he saw earlier right after Zoe blasted her with the device. Except this time, her eyes were aimed at Jon. And they burned with hatred.
