Months or years later...
As the credits rolled, Jon and Karyn sat together in the theater, quietly discussing the movie they had just seen.
Jon shook his head. "Well, there's two hours of our lives we'll never get back. The reviews were right. It stunk. I'm glad we didn't pay to see it."
Karyn sighed. "The book was so much better. I'm glad you made me read it first. If I'd seen the movie first, I don't think I'd want to touch the book with an 11-foot pole."
Jon scowled. "I can't believe they changed so much. If it had had a different title, I probably wouldn't have even known it was based on the book."
Karyn's expression turned thoughtful. "Well, there's one good thing about it. If anyone sees us use our power now, they'll totally misinterpret what we can do."
Jon nodded. "Yah, there's that."
They sat together in silence and waited for the scattered patrons who had actually paid for this turkey to leave. As the last one exited the theater, Karyn turned to Jon. "Back to our 'castle'?"
Jon carefully checked around them to make sure there were no witnesses left. "Let's go."
The credits played to an empty theater.
Author's Note: I wrote the parent episode before I heard there was a movie coming out. I haven't seen the movie based on Jumper, and I have no intention of doing so. The reviews were almost universally bad. If you did see the movie, please keep in mind that their powers in this branch are based on the book version, not the movie. For the purposes of understanding and writing about their powers in this branch, the most important difference is that the Jumping power in the book is silent, and there are no bangs or explosions. There could be a very brief flash of light visible in a dark place, if the other end of the teleport was in a brightly lit spot. In the book, the teleports were actually brief David-shaped portals that appeared around him, and allowed light to pass in both directions for a fraction of a second. It took careful use of a videocamera to discover this.
