But when Jon typed it in, nothing happened--except a message box appeared on the screen: "Machine locked, enter password", with a place to type a password in.

"Jon," she said, "we're all ready to try the machine."

"What?" replied Jon. "You mean this?"

"Of course I do! Don't go typing in things before everyone's even here. We all decided to use it together. You can't just go around making people from nothing all by yourself!"

"I don't understand," said Jon. "I wished...."

Karyn whispered, "Jon, when you use the stone it changes reality so things were already like that. I bet if you already had a machine like this, you and your Mom would have had to come to an agreement of some kind. I mean, what parent would let their kid do anything they want with a machine that creates life?"

"Then I should just wish that everyone lets me use it and I don't need a password, I wouldn't really be reversing a wish."

"I guess," said Karyn, "but why not see what happens? You can reverse it later if it gets really bad." Turning to Jon's mother, she then asked her "Can I make suggestions?"

"Sure you can," replied Jon's mother.

Jon's family and Karyn gathered in Jon's room, fitting as best they could. Jon's mother walked up to the machine and typed in the password. Another box appeared saying "Password accepted." Then she explained, "All right. Has everyone decided what they want this person to be like? Jon, you already said you want to make a version of yourself, right?"

"Uh-huh," said Jon.

"Okay, now everyone else... what do you want in this new person?"
