"I wish I had a time machine that I can use to travel to any time in the past or future."
As Jon said that, the air in the corner of his room shimmered and sizzled and sparked. Then there was a loud POP as a futuristic-looking metal pod appeared in the corner of his room. There was only room in it for one person, but two people could fit, if they crammed themselves in.
"Let's try this out," Jon said. "Where do you want to go? The past or the future?"
"I'm not sure about this, Jon. I've seen sci-fi movies. And I know that time travel causes problems. What if we blow up the universe? Or make it as though you were never born?"
"Those are just movies, Karyn. This is reality."
"Only because of the stone."
"Okay, then. If there's a problem, we can just use the stone to fix it."
Karyn thought it over. "I guess you're right."
"Okay." He smiled with excitement. "Past or future? Pick a time."
