Jake and Emily shuffled downstairs, dressed and disgruntled.
"Morning you two," said their dad, Roger, "You look like you are in rough shape this morning. Did you not sleep well?"
"They slept like logs. The world could have changed, and they would sleep right through it. Teenagers." Sally explained, looking at the two kids with a knowing look.
Roger laughed a little and went back to helping to get the food on the table.
Emily felt hungry this am. She took 2 pancakes and 2 eggs. She them proceeded to full her glass with OJ.
Jake took the same thing by habit.
"Someone's hungry this morning. Start with a little bit and see how it goes " chirped Sally.
Jake glared at his mother as best he could with Emily's face. He then returned a pancake to the stack. He'd been a girl for maybe 1 waking hour and he was already targeted by sexism, by his own mother.
Emily had already finished her first plate and was working on a 3rd pancake, grinning a little grin that Jake just barely saw. He'd have to talk to her about that later.
Jake had some trouble finishing his eggs and pancake. He wasn't going to let his mother know that, so he ate the last half a pancake quickly and started another one. It was then he realized that Emily usually only had one pancake and 1 egg on Saturday mornings. He couldn't even have his own appetite.
After breakfast was eaten, Sally insisted the kids clear the table and do the dishes. They didn't even try to argue. Emily put the food away while Jake did the dishes. Sally seemed happy with that arrangement.
"Let's go upstairs Emily. I want to show you something," Sally said as she started to walk upstairs towards her bedroom. Once they were both in, Sally closed the door.
"I'm going to give you a little crash course in makeup. This is eyeliner, it is for what the name says. This is concealer. This is foundation..." droned Sally
Jake started to space out. Is this something I have to do every day? It was the weekend. Thinking back, he couldn't remember if his sister did her makeup on the weekends. He never paid attention. He didn't want to learn about this anymore
" ..and this is how you apply it. Any questions Emily?"
"No mom. I got it."
"Is that all your are going to say, Emily?"
"Thanks, I got it?"
"Better young lady. Now go to your room and use your makeup kit to do your eyes. It's the weekend, and your first day doing this, so I'll let you start off easy. See? I'm not so bad"
"Thanks mom." Jake said, thinking something far more mean.
Jake opened the door out of his parents bedroom, when he bumped into his dad.
"What's the rush Emily? It's the weekend."
"Sorry dad," Jake replied as he went down the hall to his room. He just made out something about his father having to go into work today.
Emily was in her room reading when Jake walked in.
"What are you doing here?" Jake asked
"This is MY room,:" replied Emily, in Jake's body
"Mom told me to put on some eye makeup and gave me a "crash-course" I need to use your stuff." said Jake as he walked over to the vanity. He still felt off balance as his breast swung slightly with each step, and his butt swayed more than he was used to as a boy. All of these were reminders he needed to figure this out quickly.
As Jake sat down he saw his father walk by and yelled "See you tonight everyone" when he was at the bottom of the stairs.
Shortly after, Sally came to the door of Emily's room
"You two are going to swap rooms. Your father is not to suspect nothing, and Jake (looking at Emily in Jake's body), you never spend time in Emily's room. So, go to your room."
"Mom, I was going to help Emily with her makeup. I know you taught her a lot, but she may still need some help. And since I have experience..."suggested Emily
"Excellent idea Jake. I'll be downstairs if you need me for anything."
The kids listened as Sally went downstairs.
"Listen Jake, I have an idea. While you were with mom for the last 30 minutes, I looked up how to change a person's body. There is surgery or magic. Surgery takes hours, so it has to be magic"
"Emily, are you kidding me? Magic? Do you think mom has fairy dust or a book of spells or something?"
"Jake, you are as sharp as ever," said Emily, ignoring Jake's sarcasm. "This is exactly what I think. We just have to find something new that mom didn't have before."
"Assuming this is magic," Jake said as he gestured towards his new body, "and not some hallucination or drug or something, mom could also have used something old that she didn't use until now for some reason."
"Right, but that would probably be something we don't recognize since it hasn't been out for a while."
"Emily, where should we start?"
