As the two hookers strutted around, Juanita suddenly remembered what she had taken from that house. She took it out of her purse and looked at it. Ai-li stopped strutting around and looked at the weird-looking gun in Juanita's hand, then asked her fellow hooker and mother-figure what it was.
"Dun know," Juanita answered. And the truth was, she really didn't. But she had this strange feeling that it belonged to her, even though she couldn't remember exactly what it was.
Juanita touched the screen, on instinct, then watched as the word READY appeared on it in bright green letters. She felt like this was all familiar, but it was like it was all part of a distant dream. Or something from a past life.
She pointed the gun-looking device at Ai-li and pulled the trigger. That caused the screen to change. Now there was a list of two things, each followed by the word ACTIVATE. On the list were two sentences, each presumably describing something. But given Juanita's trouble with reading English, she had a hard time understanding what the sentences said.
Shrugging, she randomly hit one of the ACTIVATE words. Little did Juanita know, the device she was holding and using was The Dream Machine, and the two options listed on the screen were Ai-li's greatest fantasy and her worst nightmare. And the one that Juanita ended up activating was ...
