"You don't remember," said Karyn.
"What?" replied Sarah.
"You don't remember. I just wished for it... You didn't hear me... Of course you didn't. I was mumbling. So you're telling me as far as you know, they've always been like that?"
"Well, just since the law last month. It was some kind of feminist stunt, every guy in this town has to wear skirts and heels. Nobody expected it to be passed and they'll probably overturn it, but until then..."
"But that's not what I wished for. I just wished they'd wear them." She looked around the mall and spotted a man in a dress and realized that the way it picked to do it to Jon and Alan did it to everyone else too. Karyn didn't want to go home and find their dad and their brother Fred dressed in skirts. "I wish that Jon and Alan are wearing skirts and heels for reasons that don't affect anyone else. I wish Sarah remembers that they weren't wearing them all along."
The bystander wearing a dress had his dress magically morph into a pair of jeans, and he seemed to move slightly... because he wasn't wearing high heels any more and had lost an inch of height.
Sarah abruptly began to giggle. "Oh, that's so precious," she said.
"You do remember, don't you?" asked Karyn. "I didn't mumble this time."
"Of course I do. You just made them wear skirts and heels."
"Whew. Now let's get a move on." She ran off with her sister--Jon and Alan were getting too close, even considering the crowd. "Hmm," said Karyn as a thought struck her. "What about the other stuff? Let's see, not counting the one time events I wished for... Jon has a crush on Alan and Alan has one on you. Do you remember all that?"
"I remember you wishing for it. Maybe we should try something else. Or do you want to just let them get close and have some fun talking to them?"
