"Where do you two think you're going?" a man with a gruff voice asked, grabbing hold of Alan and Jon's body. He turned their body around and glared at them.
"Who are you?" Jon asked the burly man, who had a fat cigar hanging out of his mouth.
"What the hell are you talking about? You bump your head again?" the man asked. "I swear. If you two don't get it together, then we'll have to cut your act."
"Act?"
"Yeah. You know? In the carnival?" the man said, as if it were obvious. "Now come on. I had to travel over ten miles to get here and I'm not looking forward to the trip back. Why the hell did you two have to leave anyway? What's so damn important about coming to this mall?" Jon was about to say something, but then the man said "Don't answer that." He pulled them with him out of the mall.
The reason the man didn't see them as separate people, like everyone else, was that he was just outside the range of the stone when Karyn made her wish. He was near town for a different reason, but his reason was changed when this new reality was created.
And now Jon and Alan were being taken back to a traveling carnival, which they knew nothing about. And even worse, Karyn and Sarah had the wishing stone and Jon would probably never get it back.
