Mikey slipped the necklace over his head, hoping that he would not be stuck as a girl. While he was having fun with his (her?) new friends, he wanted his old life back. He wanted his old room, old clothes and old body. He closed his eyes as the necklace came to rest on his chest.
He felt the familiar shiver of the necklace working. He opened his eyes. He looked at himself and saw his clothing. His dyed shirt was blue and green, rather than blue and purple. He was still in jeans, but he could feel that he was back to his old self. He went through his camping back, and found his boys swimsuit and no panties. He was on the verge of tears, then stopped himself thinking "boys don't cry."
Diane shouted "You've changed!"
Mikey replied "I know, this is great!"
Diane walked around Mikey "Yep, you like like you did before the necklace was used. You can see it a little in your eyes and you hair. It's nothing big, but it's there if you know what to look for."
"Well, I'm glad that the 24 hour rule wasn't true. I guess you can't trust old ladies at rummage sales." Mikey said.
"Or maybe it is Krista that was messing with you. You know how much she likes to cause mischief." explained Diane.
Mikey then realized something. He was wearing the necklace to be a boy. Does that mean...
Quickly, Mikey removed the necklace.
The shiver went through his body, and he could see his shirt change from green and blue swirl to the purple and light blue.
Mikey fell to his(her?) knees. The 24 hours had passed, and now he was a girl. He would be a woman eventually. She would go through puberty as the wrong gender. He would have to learn to wear a bra, wear skirts and have a period. She broke down again, crying and putting his hands through her hair
Diane quickly hugged her friend "It's OK Mikey, we will figure something out." She kissed Michele/Mikey on the forehead.
Mrs Diver then poked her head into the tent
"Michele, what's wrong? You seem to be having a rough weekend."
Mikey blabbered "I'm going to be a woman someday..."
Mrs Diver replied "Yes, all girls become women someday. It comes with the territory. I was a little girl once, and being a woman is great. If you ever have questions about your body, don't be afraid to ask you mom. She was a girl once too. Now, chop chop, get to packing" With that, Mrs. Diver's head was out of the tent
Diane and Mikey looked knowingly at eachother. Mikey stopped crying and was sniffling while she/he finished putting everything away, including the necklace. But, as she put the necklace back into his backpack, Mikey had an idea. Just like Heather became Heath, maybe he could just always wear the necklace, and be a boy. Only his friends would know....
