"First of all, I wish that Joy, here, has the Fantasy/Nightmare machine and uses it on herself. You see, I may want to use the machine on you guys again someday. And I can't do that unless I can change your fantasy, and I can't do that until you use the machine and make the first fantasy stop being a fantasy. Besides," she smiled, "my sister had a pretty good idea."

"I'm glad you think so," said Karyn, "but you really should let me use the stone. You don't know how to use it."

"How so?" asked Sarah.

"The machine also covers nightmares. If you want to use the machine on them, you don't need to change their fantasy. Change their nightmare instead."

"I see," said Sarah.

"Doesn't that prove that I'm as good at using magic as you?" asked Karyn.

"Maybe it does," said Sarah. "But you're not me. I would rather that I have this stone than someone else have it, even my own sister, even if she's better at it. I don't hate you, Karyn, but the stone stays mine. Now, I wish you'd forget about the stone and go into the house until I'm done here."

Karyn obediently walked away. But for some reason, she didn't forget about the stone. She had the presence of mind to pretend that she did, however. How could her sister, who she loved, who she idolized so much that she became her sister in the first place, treat her this way? She wasn't supposed to be a bitch to Karyn. It hurt for Sarah to treat her like dirt. It made her idolize Sarah a lot less.

She didn't know that she idolized Sarah because of the machine, but even then, the machine just caused changes, it didn't force them to stay that way. If you got long hair it only stayed long until you cut it--and if you got a personality problem it only stayed until you overcame it.

She also didn't realize that her earlier wish to know what the stone did could not be reversed by Sarah's wish that she forget about the stone.

Joy pointed the machine at him/herself and read the text that appeared. The fantasy and the nightmare. She really did fantasize about Alison becoming her/his boyfriend. But not only did she know it was a wish, like she told Karyn and her sister, she wouldn't use it to transform Alison against his will. But now there was no choice. Joy had to use the machine. She briefly thought of ruining Sarah's plans by picking the nightmare instead, but bringing her own nightmare to life could turn out really bad. Joy touched the ACTIVATE next to the fantasy.

The physical changes caused by Alison's half of the wish reversed. Alison's hips contracted and no longer looked padded. Alan's pants--Joy could think of him as Alan now--became normal along with them. Joy knew that normal male parts would now be under them. And suddenly s/he felt like their friendship was closer than before, in a different way. Alan was Joy's boyfriend, and it seemed right, even though it clashed badly with Joy's memories and her feelings towards any other guys.

"Very good," said Sarah. "Now, I wish you two would make out now. Just a little bit." The boy and girl (well, Joy was technically a girl) began to kiss. "Ah, that's hot," said Sarah. "Maybe Karyn should watch. It's almost like two guys doing it, if you ignore Joy's skirt and what's underneath it. Hey, Karyn!" she yelled. "Come on out again."

Sarah put the stone in her purse. "I don't think Karyn will figure out it's this stone if I just put my hand in here and make a wish. I wonder if there's something else I can do to you guys. Let me think...."

Karyn left the house when her sister called for her, but she didn't need to figure the stone out--she never forgot it to begin with. And she bet that the wish about not taking the stone wouldn't keep her from knocking out Sarah, touching the stone, and using it without taking it. She waited for her chance....
