"You can't!" replied Joy. "I'm a guy!"
"Well... you still look sort of like a guy, but that's no costume any more. Sarah, we need to...."
"I was afraid we'd have to use this," said Joy, and took out the dream machine device. "I really don't know what this will do. For all I know your nightmare is something like catching a deadly disease, which could be a lot of trouble for us. But we're not just walking away from here empty-handed."
Joy quickly touched the ACTIVATE button next to the second line--the nightmare. But what was Karyn's nightmare? She read it, only to see that Karyn's nightmare was to never exist in the first place.
Karyn disappeared. Her clothes disappeared too... and the stone just fell to the floor. Joy picked it up. Whatever protections Karyn used, it didn't keep her from just picking the stone up from the floor.
