"Are you planning to press charges?" the officer asked.
"I'm not sure," said Sarah. "That's up to Karyn. Karyn, what do you think?"
The officer poked his head into the house and saw Karyn walking towards him. "Is this some sort of practical joke?" the officer asked.
"What do you mean?" Sarah asked, confused.
"Your sister isn't hurt at all. Giving a false report to the police is a serious deal."
"But she was attacked. Didn't you see the security footage?" Sarah asked.
"Yes, I did. But it could have all been staged," he said. He sighed, then said "I'm going to have to bring you two in for questioning."
"What?" Sarah said in surprise. "But we're not the criminals here. Those two boys are."
"Boys? I thought you reported that two girls attacked your sister."
Sarah was defeated. How was she supposed to explain to this officer what happened without mentioning the wishing stone?
She cursed to herself. If she hadn't wished to make Karyn alright, she wouldn't be in trouble with the police right now.
"Hold out your hands," the officer said. "You two are under arrest."
