Sarah was nearby, but the girls had apparently forgotten about her. Until now. Alison had dropped the stone when Joy tackled her, but neither of them noticed. Sarah picked it up while Joy was explaining the situation, and then let her finish before making a wish. Making sure the girls could hear, she said "I wish you two would go back home right now."
"Well, then try this one on purpose. I order you to, 'go back home'?" Alison hadn't meant to say 'go back home', but suddenly it was not only a wish on the stone, but also a direct order to Joy. Joy just stared in shock for a moment, but then turned and started walking. Alison followed, unable to do anything else. They both turned around momentarily, still walking, to see Sarah give them a demeaning sneer. Then the girls turned a corner and couldn't stop going home.
"I'm sorry, Joy. I didn't mean to..."
"Just stop it. We're going home, and that probably means you have to go to your house and I have to go to mine, which is just as well since we can't seem to stop ordering each other around."
The girls continued to walk through the mall parking lot quietly before realizing that they were probably going to have to walk all the way home. Joy realized first and said, "Great, just make us walk everywhere why don't you?"
A moment later Alison struggled, but couldn't stop herself. Sadly she said, "Ok, Joy, you have to walk wherever you go, and now tell me to do the same."
"Ok, Alison, walk wherever you go. Oh my god!"
The girls began to cry and walked on without speaking. Both were afraid to say anything else at all. Eventually they were forced to turn in opposite directions to get to their own houses. The last thing Joy heard from Alison that afternoon was "Call me when you get home!" Joy just sighed in defeat and continued to walk. She would call Alison as soon as she got home and then probably yell at her.
