Jon sat down at the lunch table, right across from Karyn, as usual. "Karyn, I have a big problem. Really big."
"What is it?" she asked.
He gulped, then said "It's gone."
"What's gone?"
"What do you think? The stone. I didn't even notice it until now. I was in such a hurry to get to class this morning, because of the power outage, that I must have dropped it. We have to find it. Someone could be using it right now and we wouldn't even notice it. I think we should ..."
Suddenly, Jon just disappeared, right in front of Karyn.
"Jon?" she asked, with wide eyes.
From another table, she heard a girl say "Zoe? Where did you go?" Karyn stood up and saw the girl who said it. She recognized her as Athena, the best friend of Jon's sister Zoe. Karyn didn't see Zoe anywhere. Could it be that Zoe's disappearance was related to Jon's?
