"Marie! Marie!" Jon heard his new name being called from inside the house, and try as he might to ignore it, he knew that voice! He turned around to see an older-looking Karyn in a uniform to match his, yelling his name in a similar French accent.
"Karyn? Is that you?" he called back, hurrying back into the house and almost tripping.
"Shh! Not here! I am Antoinette here. Come, up to your quarters," Karyn urged, moving up the stairs without waiting for Jon to follow. When he got there, she closed the door behind them and locked it. "Oh, thank God, Jon. Do you realize how badly you fucked things up?"
Jon had to smile at the incongruity of his friend's familiar speech with the sweet voice she now had. "Antoinette? The stone has a sense of humor, doesn't it?"
She groaned at that, making Jon burst into giggles despite the mood. "Jon, this is serious! How did you manage to make us maids? And French, for that matter!"
"I don't know, Karyn, but I am not liking this any more than you are. I don't know how to walk in these heels, for one, and Matt grabbed my chest!" Jon squealed, folding his arms protectively. "And something feels so strange, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Our accents are gone..." he mused.
Karyn sighed. "We're speaking French right now, you idiot," she said with the tone of someone explaining something to a child. "How did you not notice?"
"W-what?!" Jon exclaimed, as he suddenly realized she was right, but it was so natural he could barely tell the difference. It was as if he were speaking English. "I... we are. It feels so natural."
"It does, doesn't it? Well, we have the house to ourselves, so shall we try to think of a way to fix this?" Karyn asked.
