"I wish that your shirt change color from pink to purple." And in a flash, Zoe saw her shirt change color.
"How ... how did you do that?"
"I told you. This stone is magic."
"So you, like, used the wishing stone to change me into this?"
"Sort of. I must have wished something last night when I was sleeping. Things are obviously different, but I can't remember what I wished for."
"If things are really different, then why doesn't Mom notice?" she asked.
"Because she didn't hear the wish. Anyone who doesn't hear the wish gets their memories altered to fit the new reality. That's why I still remember how things are supposed to be. I heard my own wish, it's just that I can't remember what I said," Jon explained.
"Okay, then why do I remember how things were?"
"Well ... hm, I don't know."
