"Now, what did you mean when you said this is all new to you?" asked Zoe.
"Well, I accidentally wi ..." Then Jon wondered why he was telling Zoe about the stone and also wondered if he should tell her at all.
"Yes, you accidentally did what?"
Jon looked down at his hand, thinking whether he should tell her. Unfortunately for Jon, though, Zoe followed her brother's gaze and saw the stone herself.
"What's that?"
"Huh? Oh, this. It's, um, a stone."
"Duh. I can see that. But why are you hiding it?"
"I'm not. It's just, sort of, stuck to my hand."
"Stuck to your hand?" Zoe reached over and tried to pull the stone away from Jon's palm, but it wouldn't budge. "What did you use? Superglue?"
"No. I made a wish and ... oops."
"A wish? You mean it grants wishes?"
"Well, yeah. And now since you know, this whole thing where girls strive to become bimbos is just a reality created by the wishing stone. The world isn't supposed to be like this."
"It's not?"
"No, it's not. But I wonder what I wished for last night. As you may know, I sometimes talk in my sleep. The way the stone works is that the people who hear the wish don't have their memories changed to the new reality. Technically, I heard the wish, even if I don't remember."
"Then, why don't you wish to know what you wished for?" asked Zoe.
Of course, Jon thought. Why didn't I think of that?
