When they reached the house, Kara realized something. "Uh, guys? I don't have my keys. They must've disappeared with my clothes." She winced. "Ugh, and so did my phone! And my purse and wallet!"
Lyn grimaced. "Well, that sucks. How are you going to get inside? Should we call your mom?"
The blonde shook her head. "Absolutely not. I don't want to wake my parents up and have them see me like this."
"Then, what are we gonna do?"
Jen glanced at Jo. Based on what her sister had done for her own clothes, she knew the girl would be using the stone again. Sure enough, a light came on in the girl's eyes.
"Wait, I think I see something!" Jo opened the car door and hopped out. Curious about what she would wish, Jen climbed out after her and followed.
"What are those two doing?" Lyn wondered. "Didn't they hear you? The house is locked."
"How would I know?" Kara shrugged. "They've been acting so funny lately. I wonder if they know something we don't."
Lyn smirked. "Well, you'd have a better idea than me. They're more your friends than mine."
"That's true. I wish all of my friends could get along with each other."
This brought a snort from Lyn. "That would take some doing. You've got a ridiculous range in friends, you know. I can't figure out how you manage it."
"Not easily, believe me. I always feel like I'm caught in the middle of two opposites, each trying to pull me into their side. It's kind of well, conflicting."
The brunette thought about that for a bit. Finally, she sighed. "Well, if it'll make you feel better, I'm willing to try getting along with the twins for the time being. They seem like interesting people, anyway."
"I'm glad," Kara smiled. She wanted to hug her friend, but doing so would mean leaning over and bringing the jacket above crotch level. Instead, she settled for giving the other girl's hand a squeeze.
At this time, Jo had reached the front door. Bending down, she placed a hand by the welcome mat and whispered, "I wish that Kara had accidentally dropped her keys here when she left the house earlier and that nobody had noticed it until now."
As the rock flashed, she heard the familiar tread of Jen's feet approaching from behind. If she had realized the girl had come after her, she might have waited a second so that she would hear her wish. Of course, with her sharp hearing, she could have overheard it anyway. As it turned out, Jo could only wait to see if her sister was aware that anything had changed.
