Jen--that is, Jennifer Hutchenson and not the Jen whose body she was using--had barely stopped dealing with the effects of carsickness on the physical body when the car rollled to a stop at Jon's house.

"We're here," said Jo. "You'd better go and get some real clothes, then lie down while we drop off Kara." Jen feebly nodded and said "Sure. I'm going."

She reached for the handle on the door and tried to open it. Fortunately it had not been locked and she was able to get it open. Locked... "Jo!" she said. "I need to borrow your keys." She was, after all, naked and certainly didn't have the keys that Jen would be expected to have, even though everyone else just thought the ghost had "made the clothes disappear".

Jo removed the house key from her keyring and handed it to Jen. "Hold it," said Jen. She was a little dizzy from the sudden carsickness, but not so out of her mind that she didn't understand the trouble this would cause.

Inside her family's house, her powers had let her fiddle around with people. But while she could affect the people and their memories, affecting the whole world was beyond her ability. The four girls had thought that Lyn was alwas a girl, that Kara was one person and that Jo and Jen were two, but that was all. What remained of their clothes hadn't been affected and were still boys' clothes.

What was going to happen when they came home and found that all their clothes were boys' clothes?

For that matter, what was going to happen when they came home and found that other things matched up no better than the clothes--surely the boys had some possessions that only boys would have. Surely they had photographs, or schoolbooks with their name on them, or any of a hundred other things that Jen hadn't transformed just like she hadn't transformed the clothes.

But although she didn't have most of her powers, she could still affect minds of people around her. So she could make them think there's a reason for some of the unusual things, or just enspell them to ignore things that normal people wouldn't ignore.

Jen unlocked the door--at least normal doors still worked like they did back in her time--and walked in. She had no idea which was the right way to go and picked a likely direction. Miraculously, it was correct and led to a teenager's room. "It looks like a boy's room," she said as she concentrated on her magic.

"Yeah," said Jo. "We need new clothes. Look at all that stuff. And you can take the bed until we wish for a second one." The spell worked! Jo noticed it but didn't yell out "What happened to our room!"--she just accepted that the twins had a boy's room with one bed for no reason.

Jen didn't bother picking out any clothes and just lay down on the bed instead. She ignored the things that she didn't recognize because neither boys nor girls in her time had them--like the large misshapen television screen with a typewriter keyboard next to it. Then she considered. She really wasn't limited to fiddling with minds. She could do more magic at her house because it was on several ley lines. It couldn't be the only place around that was on ley lines. There had to be a closer place that she could go to and do some real magic, now that she had a physical body.

Then Jo slapped her head. "Duuuuh," she said. "I've been stupid. You don't need to rest." She took a reddish rock from her pocket and said "I wish that Jen is not carsick and we're both wearing normal clothes. Come on, let's get back to the others." Jen realized that she indeed was not carsick, that she was not wearing a moth-eaten overcoat but a blouse and some masculine-looking (by the standards of her time) jeans--and that that stone definitely had possibilities.
