After a while, Jon thought of a way to make sure no harmful wishes could be made. he picked up the rock and said, "I wish that every wish I make on this rock would have to be confirmed. I also wish that if i want to, i could see how this rock would interpret the wish so i can cancel it if i need to." Jon then took a pair of socks out of his drawers to test the previous wish.
"I wish that this pair of socks were black instead of white," Jon said. A message flashed across his mind: confirm? choose yes, no, or check outcome Jon said to himself, "check outcome." Jon saw a black pair of socks very similar with the exception of color to the white socks in his mind. "no," Jon said. the message stopped, and the socks remained white. Jon then repeated the wish and said "yes." The socks turned black.
Satisfied with his wish-guard, Jon went to bed. What he didn't realize was that he had made two very serious errors. one was not specifying the wish to other people. The other was yet to be experienced.
