"Okay..." said Jon over the phone. "I wish that Karyn wasn't treated differently and didn't act differently in the new reality where she has blonde hair and bigger breasts, compared to the reality before that."

There was a moment of silence.

"Did...did it work?" Karyn asked nervously over the phone. She certainly didn't feel any different, and there hadn't been the usual flash, but she wasn't anywhere near the stone, so maybe that was normal.

Suddenly there was another knock on Karyn's door.

"Karyn, whatever you're doing in there, hurry up! We need to get going!" Came the impatient voice of Stacey Gibson.

"Huh? Is there something wrong Karyn? I thought I heard something." Asked Jon.

"Jon, it didn't work! Stacey Gibson is still over here, and she's getting impatient!

"Kaaaryn hurry up!" Stacey called again.

"I...I have to go." Karyn said hastily, and hung up before Jon could say anything.

Back at his house, Jon was very confused. That should have worked. What had happened, and why had Karyn left so suddenly? Then it hit him. Duh! I can use the rock to find out!

"I wish I knew why my last wish didn't work." Said Jon, clutching the stone.

And there it was. For some reason, they had continually overlooked the fact that "long blonde hair and big boobs" weren't the only past of the wish. Karyn's exact words had been "God, I wish I had long blond hair and big boobs and maybe then I'd get some of the attention.".

So, not only did she get blonde hair and larger breasts, but she also suddenly drew attention, more specifically from Sarah's crowd. Wishing that she wasn't treated differently would be contradicting the wish, and she wasn't acting differently in the first place, people only remembered that she was. And even if that wasn't the case, the new version of Karyn wasn't acting differently because of the stone, but because of the extra attention.

Jon had to think of something new, quick. But maybe he should wait until he got in touch with Karyn? If he made a mistake he at least wanted her to be aware of it.
