"I wish that I knew what was different about this reality's Karyn." Jon said.
And then it came to him, years worth of memories. Whether they were the memories of this reality's Jon or this reality's Karyn, or maybe both, he didn't know.
Things between Jon and Karyn had been much the same as in the pre-wish world, with the minor exception that this Karyn had blonde hair. That is, until eighth grade.
Just as in the other world, Jon and Karyn were mortal enemies of Sarah McMillan, but that gradually started changing during the last year of middle school, when puberty hit. When Karyn started to get her first growth spurts, and boys started noticing her for the first time, Sarah began to treat her differently. She began to think that maybe Karyn and her weren't so different after all.
Karyn had never been popular before, much like in the old reality, and she was already getting used to the attention from the opposite sex. So when Sarah started noticing her, and treating her like an equal. Karyn liked it. Karyn noticed that when she was around Sarah and her friends that she got more attention from boys, and gradually started enjoying hanging out with them.
By ninth grade, she was spending more time with Sarah and her group than with Jon and her original friends. She had grown her hair long and wore it in a style similar to Sarah. By the beginning of her sophomore year she was wearing the same clothes as Sarah and her cronies, and had nearly stopped seeing Jon at all. They had even recently made plans for her to join the cheerleading squad.
Jon was speechless. Who would have thought the color of a person's hair would change so much? This Karyn was well on her way to being one of Sarah's airhead cheerleader groupies.
"Jon, what's going on? You've got to wish me out of this fast!" Karyn urged impatiently over the phone.
"Sorry. I just wished I knew about this new reality. Maybe now I can think of a way to fix this..."
