"I know you always want to look as sexy as possible," Karyn's mother said. "Which is why I was a little confused by that sweatshirt you were wearing when you came home. Did you do that on a dare or something? Because I know how much you like to show off your curves."
Karyn was speechless. What was she in this new reality? Some sort of exhibitionist?
"Anyway," her mother continued. "I was just coming to inform you that your boyfriend called. He's going to be a little late picking you up for the party."
"Boyfriend? I have a boyfriend?" she asked.
Her mother got a perplexed and worried look on her face. "Karyn, really. What is up with you today? Of course you have a boyfriend. You always have a boyfriend. It seems like you have a new one every month."
Again, Karyn was speechless. Apparently, she went through boyfriends as often as the "popular" girls did. And who was her boyfriend in this new reality? She cringed, thinking that it was one of those muscle-brained jocks who only dated girls for sex and nothing more. She really hoped it wasn't one of those.
"Well, I'll let you get dressed," her mother said, before leaving the room.
