Suddenly a flood of memories swirled through each of their heads. Memories of James and the rock and everything that had led up to that very moment. They each looked at each other, terrified of their situation, and then bolted for the door. Jon desperately grabbed the knob but soon found the door would not open. They each scattered to the back door but found it to be bolted shut as well. Then they heard James' voice...
"Why hello Jon, Karyn, Keith, and Eric... or should I say Eric-a? Ha! Ha! Ha! I decided to give you back your memories for a moment so you can learn about the game."
Karyn began to cry. Mixed emotions filled her head. She hated James for what he'd done, but still a slave to his previous wish, she also loved him. She cherished him and wanted nothing more than to be with him.
"Dammit James," yelled Jon, "that rock isn't a game! It's dangerous! You're playing with our lives! Eric will never be the same again! Neither will Karyn!"
James laughed again. "Silly Jon... I think this IS a game! In fact, I think this is the best game in the world! And you are all contestants! From now on I will change each of your realities! Your memory of the rock will be erased but I will leave clues as to its existence and your past involvemement with it! In short, you'll each have to figure out that your new reality is FALSE, learn about your history with the rock, and then come and stop me! Ha, Ha, Ha!!"
"James, don't do this! I beg of you!"
"Let the games begin! Let's see... whose first!"
