Later that night, as they prepared for bed, Andy suggested the pill to Christine, simply telling her it was a new to the market sleeping pill. Doubtful, but willing to try, Christine took the little blue pill and, shortly thereafter, was sleeping peacefully. Andy wasn't fooled though, he knew that at some point in the night her nightmares would arrive, and that would be all the logs either of them would saw.
So, with a grimace and a small prayer Andy took the red pill. At first nothing happened, just as he'd expected, but after a few moments he began to feel the room spin. After a few seconds the room began to tilt crazily and Andy suspected that he'd taken a bad hit of acid, or something similar. He cursed his stupidity as darkness began to fade in from the corners of his vision.
Just as suddenly as it had started it was over. Andy opened his eyes slowly, only to find himself in the middle of a field that seemed to stretch on forever in every direction. A forbidding mountain chain rested at one end, while a dark forest encircled the rest of the meadow, but each was at least a days walk away.
'It worked!' Andy thought to himself, half excited and half bewildered. Now he just had to figure out what about this place was causing Christine such horrible nightmares.
