"Really?" replied Lizzie. "What is it?"
"I'm a girl." His voice was a little higher than before he was changed, and sounded a little fake, but it wasn't too bad. Lizzie wouldn't even have noticed it if she wasn't looking for it.
"You're a what?" She knew very well, of course, but had to pretend she had no idea.
"I'm a girl."
"Oh, come on," replied Lizzie. "Is this some kind of joke? I'm 16, I think I know the difference between a boy and a girl."
"I really am a girl. I figured I had to tell you someday. If you really want me to prove it, I could you show you. Think... have you ever seen me naked?"
"Well, no," replied Lizzie. "But your name is Eric, you have a girlfriend...."
Eric cleared 'his' throat and spoke in a more feminine voice. "I'm a girl, Lizzie. I've been disguised ever since we moved here, but I'm really a girl. You have to remember if you really think about it.... a long, long, time ago I was called Erica. I'm only a year older than you, surely you remember something."
Lizzie's memories were already a little confused by having to assimilate the knowledge from turning 16, but she doubted she would have remembered it anyway. "The joke's gone far enough, Eric," she said.
Eric took off his shirt to reveal breasts. "I don't bind them in the ordinary sense but some of my shirts have elastic bands so they don't stick out too much." They weren't that big, but they were big enough. Lizzie poked one.
"Ow!" replied Erica. "Those are real. I can take off my pants if you want real proof."
"It's still impossible. What does your girlfriend think? What do the people in gym think?"
"Some people in gym know, but they're willing to cover for me. Most people still think I'm a guy, and I like it that way. And I didn't tell my girlfriend."
"You didn't tell your girlfriend? I hope she doesn't discover it someday and beat you up."
"I worry about it sometimes, but I don't think she would do that...."
"I hope she doesn't. It's sort of cool, my brother is really my sister..."
