A beautiful ring caught Jon's eye. It was simple and elegant, with a single small ruby set in silver.

"As you can see, we have an excellent selection of jewelry," a voice said, causing Jake to spin around. The man startled him.

"Where did you come from?" Jake asked.

"Why, I've been here the whole time. You must not have noticed. So, do you see anything you like?"

Jake was a little creeped out by the guy for some reason, but he knew he had to have that ring. Bree would love it. And at $68.35, the price was perfect, for a ruby anyway. "I'll take that one," he said pointing at the ring.

"Excellent choice. That ring has fantastic power."

"Power?"

"Yes, it allows the wearer to grant wishes. Would you like to hear how it works?"

"No thanks, man, I'm in a hurry. I don't have time for this wish mumbo jumbo."

"Very well then." With that, Jake paid for the ring and was headed home.

He walked into his apartment, where his roommate Dave was sitting on the couch, watching a basketball game.

"Hey man, Breanne called," he said, "She's waiting for you."

"Figures," Dan said with a sigh.

"So what'd you get her."

"A ring."

"Somebody's gettin' laid tonight!" They both laughed.

"Yeah, the guy who sold it to me even said it would grant wishes! I don't think I've heard anything so ridiculous before." He took the ring from the box and looked at it. Of all the stupid ideas, he thought. For a laugh, he slipped it on his finger. "I wish I had a turkey sandwich."

Nothing happened. Jake chuckled and tried to pull the ring from his finger. It wouldn't budge. "Hey, this thing won't come off!"

"Great man, now Bree will never put out for you!" Dave said with a laugh.

"Very funny." Jake continued to pull, but the ring wouldn't budge. After a few minutes, he gave up and sat next to Dave on the couch. It had to come off eventually, right?

Jon gazed into the HD crystal, and smiled at Jake's predicament. "Should've listened, my friend. Then you'd know that it's the wearer that grants the wishes of the person closest to him when he puts it on. Oh, and you can't remove it unless that person so wishes, or you get far away from him. Have fun, Jake."

Back on the couch, Jake and Dave sat, staring into the TV. They were silent for a while, until Dave reached for his beer.

"Man, it's empty. And it was the last in the fridge. I wish I had another."
