"Amber? You okay, baby?" the young man asked.
"Uh, yeah, but maybe I should go home. I heard we're supposed to get rain today. You know, really bad weather. Not a good time to spend time at the beach," Jake said. It was a lame excuse. Everyone knew that the area was in the middle of a dry spell. But it was the only thing that came to mind that could get her out of this situation. She needed some time alone to think.
"You know, you're right," the young man said, surprising Jake that his excuse was so convincing. "I wouldn't want to make love in the rain either."
Make love? Jake thought. Is that what he had planned?
"We better get out of the rain," the man said, grabbing Jake's attention.
"What? But it's not ..." She shut up as soon as she saw the sky to the west. "Where the hell did that come from?" The sky was the blackest Jake had ever seen it. It was one mean and nasty-looking storm. But where had it come from? When Jake arrived to the beach, it was a clear blue sunny day. Barely a cloud in the sky. But now ...
Suddenly, there was a powerful gust of wind that nearly blew Jake off of her new dainty feet.
"Come on," the young man said, pulling Jake with him.
Somewhere in the distance, Jake heard an echoing siren. Oh god, that's a tornado alarm, she thought, as she was pulled away by the young man.
