Jon finally walked into his room and sighed as he dropped his bag on the ground and flopped down on his bed. Quietly he removed the stone from his pocket and fiddled with it in his hands. He thought to himself about Karyn's wish earlier that day, and what the danger this thing could be. Not to mention, what would happen if he ever lost the thing. To anyone else it was just a rock, and it could be used for skipping across the pond or something. Jon grew wide-eyed at the prospect of losing the rock, being unable to try and fix anything that might go wrong.
Sighing, Jon stood up and placed the rock in its box. He paused a moment and considered his options, and pulled it back out of its box. He decided that he'd better include an insurance policy. "I wish that I can never lose this rock," there was a brief flash of light and Jon looked away. When he looked back, he found that his hand was empty. Frantic, Jon searched through his room, trying to find where the rock had gone, but to no avail. Finally, he sighed. Perhaps its for the best, he idly thought to himself.
Later that night he was eating dinner with his mother, sister and brother. His brother was innanely chattering about something they'd done at school that day, and the dinner didn't really interest Jon that much. He sat their twisting his fork in the pasta casserole, thinking about the lost opportunity that had befallen him. As he came back into reality, he overheard his sister blabbering about some concert she wanted to go to.
"I told you Zoe," Jon's mother said, picking up plates to clean off, "Youre not going to that concert. It's a school night and besides, you know I don't approve of that music you listen to."
"Oh come on mom," Zoe whined, "It's not that bad."
"End of discussion," his mother said finally, and walked into the kitchen. Mikey walked off to play with some toys elsewhere, while Zoe stormed out of the table. Before she left she muttered to herself "I wish she understood me better."
Jon suddenly felt a tingling sensation in the back of his head and closed his eyes for a moment as a wave of discomfort overcame him. Once the moment passed, he turned around and wondered what the heck was going on. That didn't last long however, as Jon's mother quickly came out of the kitchen, looking nothing like Jon's mother.
Instead of the conservative business dress and apron she had been wearing, she was now wearing a black dress complete with fishnet stockings. Her hair was died pitch black, and her complextion was entirely goth. Jon did a double take as he stared at his mother, who stared back.
"Something wrong," she asked, with the same smile she always had, only made out gothic style. Jon just simply shook his head, mouth agape, and slowly walked to his room. Something had happened, and he wasn't quite sure what it was.
Once he got in his room he paced back and forth, thinking about what had just transpired. What had caused it. Mikey had been going on about....something. Zoe had been complaining about not being able to go to the concert. His mother had left for the kitchen. Zoe had....
ZOE! The wish she had made. But...how....
"God," Jon said frustrated, "I just wish I knew what the hell was going on here." The tingling sensation in the back of his head returned, and Jon went wide eyed at what had really happened...
