In the episode "Plans For Tomorrow", Hawkins seems to just kind of shrug off the mentioned notion on events being interconnected, which in my canon for him, he'd be ALL OVER THAT. Its actually part of his "nature" to suss out the hidden connections between things, part of his whole intuition deal.

Like wise with the nexus theory. My head-canon fro him was that he'd start thinking the town was the center of this whole mess pretty dang soon into the investigation. Especially since he'd be aware of the whole "Original magic spike" dealy.
