"I wish Karyn was here in my bedroom," Jon said. The stone glowed, granting his wish. But then he felt an odd and dizzying sensation. When it cleared, he realized that he was in Karyn's bedroom. How did he get here? This wasn't what he wished for.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Jon froze, wondering how he was going to explain being there. But then the situation got even weirder.

The knocking came again and then he heard the voice of Karyn's mom. "Jon? Are you in there?"

How did she know he was there?

Hesitantly, he walked to the door, then opened it. She didn't seem surprised to see him. And oddly, she wasn't asking where Karyn was. "Come on downstairs, sweetie. You don't want your breakfast to get cold."

Okay, now Jon was more confused than ever. Sweetie? Why would Mrs. Black call him that? That was something a mother ... would ...

Oh no.

"Uh, okay ... Mom," he ventured. She smiled, then nodded and walked down the hall. That settled it. For some reason, Karyn's mom thought that he was her son. He closed the door and looked at himself in the bedroom mirror. He was astonished by what he saw. He was a redhead, for one, and he basically looked like a male version of Karyn, the original non-blond Karyn, that was. And now that he realized it, the bedroom looked like a boy's bedroom and not a girl's. But if he had Karyn's life ... where was Karyn?

"Mom," Karyn said, sounding nervous. "Have Zoe or Mikey been in my room lately?"

Mrs. Gibson (formerly Jon's mother) shook her head. "No, I don't think so. Why?"

"No reason," Karyn said quickly, then headed back to her room. Sweeping her long blond hair out of her eyes (she still regretted making that wish, especially since she knew full well how her grandfather's stone worked), she began to look for the stone again. It must have gone somewhere.
