"I wish I had my backpack with me," Jon said quietly to the second stone. He noticed it to glowed red for an instant, before both stones flashed brightly.
Jon suddenly found the unfamiliar maroon top he'd been wearing replaced by his favourite "“ an oft-worn, faded-blue Family Guy t-shirt. He also felt the weight of his backpack hanging from his shoulder.
He also found he was now holding three identical wishing stones in his hand. He quickly stuffed them into his pocket before anyone saw them.
Something unusual was happening with this rock, he thought, but at least it still works, more or less.
Jon figured that he would have to make a number of wishes together, and then this pool of wishes would all get granted at once. And he realised the wishing pool would gradually become larger and larger, as more stones came to exist.
However, what Jon didn't realise was that was not the Splitting Stone's whole story. He didn't contemplate how the wishes were shared within the pool, what might happen if he made a wish about someone else, or if another person found one of the rocks and added a wish of their own into the pool...
