The rest of the day passed without much incident. Jon noticed a few more changes over the course of the day, a bit of lost muscle, a bit of height lost, and his hair lengthening a bit. Aside from a few comments from his teachers that he was due for a haircut, he managed to not attract much attention.
He went to the spot where he always met up with Karyn, to find her already waiting there for him. "Hey, Jon." she said. "You've changed a bit more."
"Yeah, I know." Jon said, sighing. He noted that he was now only a couple of inches taller than Karyn. "At least today's Friday. We have all weekend to figure out a way out of this situation."
"It may take longer than that, you know. Magic is very unpredictable." Jon and Karyn turned to see Athena approaching them.
"Did you find anything out?" Jon asked her anxiously.
"When would I have had the time to do any research, Jon? I've been in class all afternoon." Athena replied dryly. "I'm on my way to the shop now. I just wanted to see if your...condition had advanced at all, and I can see that it has."
"Yeah, it has. So I kinda want to get some answers ASAP." Jon said.
"I bet. I'll let you know if I find anything." Athena said, turning from the two and waving as she walked away.
Karyn gasped as the goth girl walked away. "Jon, why didn't you mention that Athena had a ring like ours?" she asked.
"What? She did?" Jon asked, looking back at the girl. "I'm sure she didn't have one earlier."
"Well, she definitely has one now." Karyn said. "We should go get her. She may not have noticed it, like I didn't notice mine at first."
"Well, your change seems to be going slower than mine is, if you're changing physically at all. I think we can wait until she goes to her shop and see if she finds anything there."
"Why not go with her? It's not like we're doing anything else."
"Not quite true." Jon said. "I want to check in on another thing that's been bugging me all day, and another potential ring."
"Oh, Jon, you can't mean..."
"Yeah, we're gonna go pay Sarah a visit."
