Jon took his time making his way to the school gym, dreading how he was going to get through the class. Or rather, it wasn't the class itself which worried him, but rather the changing of clothes which happened before and after.
I could just be really slow in both times, so by the time I change clothes, everyone else will have cleared out, Jon speculated, but he didn't like the idea. Coach wouldn't be pleased if he was late to class, and waiting for every other guy to change would be seem a bit suspicious.
Jon was too busy devising a plan to get out of showing off his altered genitalia to notice Steve Farber right until the moment the two of them collided.
"Hey, watch it, loser," Steve said, though he didn't sound all that indignant.
Jon glanced at Steve, and realized that the school playboy looked a little different today. He wasn't as brawny as he usually was, and maybe a little shorter, too.
Jon shifted his gaze down to Steve's hand, and sure enough nestled on Steve's left ring finger was a stone, not unlike Karyn's and his own. This one a purple gem inlaid in a silver band shaped like a pair of wings.
Jon knew it might not have been a good idea to confide in one of the school's biggest jerks, but he decided to risk it. "Hey Steve, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get that ring?"
"None of your business, lo-" Steve began, before he noticed the ring on Jon's finger. "Holy shit! You have one too?"
"I... well yes, I suppose I do," Jon admitted.
"And that means... I mean do you... shit, I don't know?" Steve said, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
"Look, we need to find somewhere to talk," Jon said,
"Right," Steve said, before pointing at a door a ways down the hall. "There's a broom closet down there. The night janitors are the only one to use it, but it's unlocked; we should be able to use it safely."
Jon nodded, and followed Steve into the closet. The closet was dark and cramped, with just enough space for Jon no to be up against Steve and just enough light to vaguely make him out.
"A little small in here, isn't it?" Jon asked.
"Sorry, I usually use this for rather... intimate stuff," Steve said, and Jon was surprised to find he actually sounded a bit embarrassed.
"So, let me guess, you just woke up with the ring, and it messed up your body?" Jon asked.
Steve nodded. "That happened to you too?"
"Basically."
"And were those changes, did they include... well, you know..." Steve said, waving his hand over his crotch region.
"Yes, I suppose you could put it like that," Jon said.
"Oh, thank god, I thought I was the only one!" Steve said, clearly relieved.
"No, we aren't the only ones..." Jon said.
"Wait, we aren't the only ones? You mean you've met someone else?" Steve asked, a little more astute than Jon would have liked.
"Err... yeah. Her situation is a little different than ours, though."
"Her? You mean this is happening to girls, too?"
"Yes, though her genitals are they way they should be, so far."
"Right that's... I don't know, good? So is Karyn the only other one you know about?"
"Who said it was Karyn?"
"Please, you two losers are practically conjoined at the hip. And since you obviously don't have a girlfriend, she'd be the only girl who would confide that sort of thing in you."
"Whatever. Look, I know this is kinda a big deal, but I have to get to gym class."
"Not just you, us. We share the same gym class, you dope."
"Right, sorry. So if that's the case, how are we supposed to get changed for gym without showing off... you know."
Steve's face cracked into a sly smile. "Actually, I think I may have an idea how to do just that."
