"Who's Linda Douglas?" wondered Karyn.
"I don't know," replied Jon. "Wait a minute. Maybe she's related to Larry Douglas, your boyfriend."
"But Larry doesn't have any sisters... Oh, no." Karyn groaned. "You don't suppose?"
"That Linda made a wish, and became Larry, and because the stones change reality you remember her as being like that all along? That's ridiculous. But we both know how the stone works. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's what happened. I suppose there's only one way to find out."
Karyn nodded. "Stone, I wish we'd know if that's true."
"YES IT IS," said the voice.
"Argh. I bet Larry is about to use the other stone to change back. I wish that me and Jon were with Larry in a place where we could talk about it before he uses the stone to change back."
They both disappeared and reappeared in front of a door inside a house somewhere. Larry opened the door and let them into his room--he seemed to have thought they had walked there and not teleported, since the "teleport" affected reality too. The room looked like a perfectly normal boy's room, which Jon and Karyn now knew was the result of a wish.
"Sorry to bug you," said Jon. "But all this with the stones... Karyn wanted to talk to you."
"I can imagine," said Larry. "I figured that you guys would figure this out, but I didn't think it would be that soon. If I had changed back you would have un-remembered me being Karyn's boyfriend just like the wish made you remember it in the first place. And if I change back now you'll hear the wish and you'll keep remembering. What are we going to do?
"Maybe you changed my memory," said Karyn, "but everything feels normal to me. I don't remember you as being a girl, and I can't have a girl for a boyfriend anyway!"
